How was your year?
BHC at Clymer was a great success! We were able to partner with students from the LaSalle University’s Varsity Swimming & Diving Teams for two fitness sessions where the students ran, stretched, did relay races, and interacted with healthy male role models. Clymer students have come a long way in their thinking about healthy food. One student told the Site Manager that he does not drink soda anymore, but drinks water now at dinner and gets a water bottle when he goes to the store. For the final service project, students hosted a “Clymer Community Day.” Students cleaned the school yard, picking up chip bags, soda bottles, and other pieces of trash. The event was open to the community and students sold flower pots (decorated by the students) for $2 each. Persons who purchased were able to have a piece of fruit for free. At the Community Day students hosted many stations including: the Flower Pot Sale; Fruit give-away; ”Clymer Caterpillars”; Fitness; Jump-rope; Trail Mix. Each of the station was decided upon by the students. “Clymer Community Day” was held on June 11, 2009 at George Clymer Elementary.
