How was your year?
This year our students participated in many exciting activities during the BHC program.  They tried new, healthy snack foods, created and advertised their own healthy snack inventions, watched and discussed the documentary, Supersize Me, and practiced putting together a meal of healthier choices from a fast food menu. This year we also participated in the BHC Web 2.0 Project.  Our students have been very excited to log on each week and share their thoughts and ideas on the BHC program, as well as read what students from other sites are doing.  Our “bloggers” loved this program—it made them feel so “grown-up”! Finally, our BHC program culminated with our service learning project, “BHC Family Fun Night.”  Our students and their families were invited to join us at the Boys & Girls Club of Clifton for a night of swimming, sports, fitness and healthy snacks, including a smoothie bar.  We had a great turn out and everyone had a wonderful time.

Community Partners
Unfortunately our scheduled community partners (a nurse who was scheduled to do blood pressure screenings at our event, and a gym that had offered membership certificates to be distributed at the event) fell through at the last minute. Our event was a great success nonetheless, and we had great participation from all of our parents and families.
